Grace's Long-Awaited Debut

Whaow...whaow...whaow...






(sexy saloon music chiming in the background)...










Ba dah dah dah domp!  Whomp whomp!  Whomp whomp!!










...the curtain pulls...










...Prairie Dove Love starring- Streetside Grace---  returns to Town and Prairie!!!









Oh yes, she underwent a serious sanding scrubdown and color test as she entered the pre-stages of her Extreme Makeover.









She needed a serious repair on a dislocated curved front drawer; it was accomplished with some small nails and Gorilla Glue.










We skipped the primer and used Valspar Signature series paint in La Fonda Teal.  This paint has primer built in.  TWO coats.









A little bit of top coating... Woodlawn was added in a dry-brushed fashion to her foundation color.  I left the La Fonda Teal on the brush and just dove right in--- it makes for easier and more natural transitions in blending.









She wanted to look in the mirror to check herself out, but I said no way...









...just lay back and relax, girl, we're not through with this makeover yet!









The drawers were inserted...









...a little paste wax lube was used when they started stickin'...










...and then she was brought into the house for a show and tell photo shoot!










At last, a beautiful treasure!
Come on, Cover-girl, show 'em what you got!











Grace has undergone a complete transformation.

Since taking up residence at our place, Grace has given up a lot of her bad habits.











She has quit smoking and no longer tries to hide her empty cartons in her drawers from me.









She also knows that trying to find love on the corner is inappropriate.

We have set her up with an online dating service so she can meet the right person who will appreciate her total package.










But let's get real... ya all know you love her for her legs.

    Grace is a beauty! It's like watching Pretty Woman. hehe! You did such a wonderful job...and had me giggling! I can't find an email address so I'll answer your question about the chalk paint here. It stretches VERY far. I painted a hutch, a chair, and the trunk & I still have a touch less than 3/4 of a can left. Keep in mind, the hutch was mixed with French Grey & Linen but mostly white was used...just a dollop each of French Grey & French Linen. I'd say I could get at least 3 hutches done with one can. That's what helps me justify the cost of a quart. xo

    Hilarious post! Love Saloon Girl Gracie! It sounds weird, but to me she looks like a dresser that belongs in Alice in Wonderland (especially without the mirror). Amazing color and I love how you made the details stand out. Oh and I thought the fix on the dovetails using glue and nails was pretttty neat.

    Grace is quite the gal! You really know how to bring the beauty out in a sad looker. That's some makeover. Be glad all she hid in her drawers were emply cig. pkgs. I once bought a table from T.J. Maxx. When I got it home I found underwear in the drawer. Yep that would be drawers in the drawer. What a surprise that was! I still love the table; but everytime I look at her I think - underwear. lol!

    You're TOO funny! I would paint something else in Provence if I had any left. I used it all up 'cause I didn't know what the heck I was doing. Just getting started with this whole venture and right now I'm so broke, I have to just use up what I have. Is that Valspar a latex? I'm STILL struggling w/ using colored waxes, gotta try something a little lest frustrating. I REALLY love your dresser, how you used the two colors, the humor, the photos - you get 'em seesta!
