My daughter calls it 'The Magic Door."
She knows it doesn't 'open,' and is confused by this at the moment,
so it's "The Magic Door."
Perhaps it opens us all to a world of enchantment.
O, the possibilities.
Is it where I've been hiding the last week and a half?
No, we've all been recovering from a bad case of the stomach flu over here,
each in a different capacity.
The sweet old door was found on the side of the road.
Someone purchased a steel one, and discarded the more charming one with the weekly trash.
We picked up this little old door and brought her home to dress her up.
She was actually quite heavy; she was a solid wood door.
With some added seating from the bunny bench to accompany her
(a birthday present from last year that I HAD TO HAVE),
she makes a great little backdrop for springtime photos.
Or anytime photos, really.
By the way, if you all have chickens...
...then you know how much they love to tear up your fresh mulch.
They love to investigate newly turned earth and will scratch it all out.
This landscaping is Mr. TP's handiwork.
We are quite happy with how it turned out.
My idea hatched and he executed.
Another oldie but a goodie saved from a landfill.
A rescued treasure, reused and restyled.

The door you found is so attractive and sturdy. I would have never thought to use it the way you did. Your husband's landscaping looks so green and groomed. What a lovely space to just sit, think, or pray. I can see why your daughter calls it the magical door.

i love old doors...this is placed in a lovely way. i picked up one as an unwanted leftover at our local fire co auction, wonder if i could do something similar!
What a beautiful door. Why would anyone just throw it away. I guess so people like you who would appreciate it would save it from the trash and make it into a Magic Door.

I adore that door in your garden!! Why in the world would anyone throw that beauty away? I don't understand people, but we live in an age of "buy something new and throw the old away". Very sad! SO GLAD that you rescued her though!! :)

Your door is gorgeous. Can't believe somebody threw it to the curb! I have the same problem with my digs as you do with the chickens. They won't leave my flower eds alone. I even tried putting the mulch down while they were inside, but the minute they went out they were tilling it up for me!

I have such an old door and window fetish! What a treasure you found. I Have an old door on my porch and a shelf made from one in my living room. What a great Rescue of an Old Treasure & a sweet Name for it, I like the "Magic Door"! I adore Old Doors and have Saved many a discarded one too. Architectural Salvage is a Passion of mine, so many Styling possibilities with them. I Hope everyone will soon be feeling well.
