Garden Pears

Our Chanticleer pear tree did awesome this year.  For a young tree (that we planted about five years ago) we managed to harvest about two five-gallon bucket fulls of large plump pears.

I'm bringing them into the house so they can soften.  I think I'll be eating them just the way they are.  Maybe I'll get motivated to try a pear tart or other such fancy sounding recipe.

No one else here eats pears except me... so I'll be giving a ton to my mom.

We were pretty lucky.  Again, we didn't have to spray for any pests this year.  We managed to avoid them, so these fruits are totally organic.

Here are some images that were taken last night at dusk as we picked them off.

These pears (above) seem to be in love.

So our fruit bowl is filled and I have cut the last of the hydrangeas.  I am arranging them in this vase without water because the petals are already starting to crispen.  I'll keep the blooms as they dry completely.

The hydrangeas are starting to pick up an autumn blush just like the pears.

P.S. Please turn off Word verification, it really trips up people when trying to comment. If they type it wrong the first time they leave. I just typed it wrong, and said I better mention this again.

You have a very welcoming tablescape. The pears look delicious, and I love that the hydrangeas have the same coloring.
