For a fall entry at the WhisperWood Cottage Talent scouting party, I am featuring
one of my most popular posts...an outdoor tablescape and makeover.
I first posted this table in fall of 2011.
A joy to rehabilitate...St. Anthony's Table.
You can see my statue of St. Anthony in the background here...
patron saint of lost items, holding the baby Jesus.
I knew this was exactly where I wanted this table photographed.
This antique table was reclaimed as a lost and found item.
Or rather, discarded and found. So pretty, such detail.
Found on the streets of town... AGAIN!!
Where is the ingenuity in common folk? Where's the resourcefulness?
This table has much more character than the canned manufactured look
available in Any Store, Any Town, USA.
Time for a PRAIRIE DOVE makeover!
Just needed to have it's legs tightened a bit.
All the supplies (paint, sandpaper, wax) I already had.
Some initial sanding,
two coats of Valspar signature in white
(this paint is great because it has the primer built right into it and provides supreme coverage - you just have to sand very well prior to painting if the piece is stained wood to prevent the stain from bleeding through),
some distressing (which I *love*),
and then two coats on Minwax Wipe On Polycrylic
(to protect the tabletop for eating purposes).
This table has a neat little leaf that collapses and stores right underneath the table.
Here's my table with the leaf extension.
And here with some fall romance!
Fabulous farmstyle inspiration for your little cottage home.
Bring your furniture OUTSIDE for a smashing fall party.
Natural materials and linens--such as potato sacks and fabric remnants--
keep a table scape rustic.
Beautifully turned legs on these old tables add unmatchable charm!
Fall textures in the yard around the table setting help to unite the scene
and set the tone.
Ready to celebrate fall romance?!

Andrea, your table looks beautiful in this setting. You unlocked so much detail with your paint treatment. Love the display.
WOW that was so cool, and very well done. I love the table and your table top decor is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, my heart did sing when you mentioned St. Anthony. He is one of my beloved saints. The table turned out nicely, and I really like the shape of it. Your Fall goodies look lovely on there.

The table is really beautiful, and the shape really makes it's unique! The fall delights are really nice. If you would, I'd love it if you would post on my 1st Sunday's Best Party. You need to share!
Love, love, LOVE it! I want that table!
Now following.
Your table is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love it, I wish mine looked like that, it would go so well in my house. You have done an amazing job of that makeover!
Hugs, Cindy
Your table and the setting is just gorgeous! I really like the orange organza. It's amazing how the white paint accentuates the detail in the table. I have to try the valspar paint. I have a hot pink and black secretary I'm going to repaint soon and I know it's going to give me grief!
BTW, if there's a partial comment from me just before this comment, it's because my iPad is being difficult tonight!
I also love your blog motto.....very funny!
BEAUTIFUL table redo!!!!
Just beautifully done...I love it!!
Great table and love how you have it styled.
Beautiful transformation! And, love the tablescape

That is one gorgeous table and setting! Wow, I would think I would make the family sit outside and eat dinner on that thing before hauling it back inside!
Gosh, I need to get to work - LOL!!!
XoXo,
Kristal

Do you have any info on the table? My husband and I found those legs in an attic, we're using them on a table he is building from reclaimed wood. Would love to know about the table they came from.

Fabulous is right! I love, love this table!! I just bought a sofa table with great legs at a yard sale. Wanted to try A. S. chalk paint on it. I have heard so much about it. Didn't think we could buy it here, but found out one area that sales it. Now, not sure. Sure like the way this Valspar looks! Great job!
