Christmas In July

Whenever I go into an antique store,
I always get a little sad when I see a box of old discarded family photos.

Why?
Who didn't want them?
I decided to rescue a few last week
and include them in my vintage Christmas holiday decor
through a fun craft.
 I will appreciate them
and at least they can be seen by someone!

The two beautiful photos I'm using in this post were
$1 each!!!

Take this girl, a vintage skater--- just look at her!
Couldn't be a more perfect photo of a girl at Christmas.
Look at those skates!

I added a bit of glitzy text,
and some colorful Christmas papers,

and now she's a tag for my galvanized bucket.

This dreamy girl was all dolled up in fur.
I decided to emphasize the collar and muff with some glitter glue.
I also glued her onto a piece of colored card stock.

I hot glued on a wire ribbon that I bent into a ladder form,

added some left-over glittered letters from last Christmas
and a do-dad,

and now she's elegant again!
No more hiding in the bottom of a dusty box!

I'll be sharing these with the

I feel the same way when I see old photos! I also found some last week at the antique mall but passed them up because they were between $6 and $9 a piece! Great project! Thanks for sharing with us! Merry Christmas in July!

I always pick up the old photos too. What a great idea to give them a new life.

I also think that same thought when I see old photos. I wonder if some of my precious family photos will end up that way....Your embellishments really are beautiful!

What a great idea to use the photos like that. They make perfectly vintage tags/cards.

I agree with you so much. It saddens me too to see the olden photos. Well, you did rescue those two ladies and they look marvelous now! Love how you've made them look so pretty.
Be a sweetie,

Andrea! What a GREAT idea. I just love these and what a fun project. I, too, have some old pictures and I don't know who they are but I have a hard time getting rid of them. This is a good idea for me- xo Diana

Great project! I love the skater photo...so glad you rescued her! I feel the same way about the old photos that I see for sale.

I bought a box of them once...framed them and displayed them in my family room. Instant ancestors!!

I love how you rescued these old photos and made them pretty again. I always wonder how they end up in store also. Who are these people and where are their families. Beautiful job. Pinning this:-)
