Country Living Inspiration and a Garage Sale!

When I got the July issue of Country Living magazine this week,
I was inspired by the dining room they had arranged on one of the first insert pages.

Isn't it natural and refreshing?

Know what else?
I have a very similar pedestal table!
It will be available this Thursday-Sat at our neighborhood garage sale.
It seats four.

Wouldn't it be cute paired with these $35 chairs from IKEA?

AGEN Chair IKEA Handwoven; each piece of furniture is unique. Stackable chair; saves space when not in use.

Or this fancier version for $95

BYHOLMA/MARIEBERG Chair IKEA Handmade piece with soft, rounded shapes and nicely detailed patterns. Each piece of furniture is unique.

Or, if you like the style, but need more space,
I have a double-pedestal table that seats six and has a leaf.

If you're local and interested,
let me know or swing by.

I'll have some more things out, too,
including some beautiful bedroom furniture I'll post soon,
but it's been a cold and wet spring overall
and supplies are limited.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Guy Stuff

When there are neighborhood sales, and the women flock like the swallows of Capistrano in groups down the street, the men have to have someplace to go... a cave, where they can hang out and talk guy talk.

Mr. Neil, our neighbor to the west, realized this late on Thursday's sale and made a sign for today.  It promptly caught our attention, and then my husband and boys went next door to investigate.

Oh, there was indeed guy stuff.  Mantiques, to be exact.  And lots of man-talk.

I was so intrigued upon their return that I had to wander over later and check this out myself.

He really did have a nice display...and told me all about an upcoming swap meet for auto parts coming up that he was preparing for.

The light filtered through the garage door beautifully on Mr. Neil's tools and hardware.  I really like this image with the cut milk jug.

And, on a sentimental note, the handwritten labels reminded me of Boompa's writing.  The mixture of upper and lower case and the slant of the letters provided instant nostalgia...

...and comic relief in the 90 degree weather.

Garage Sale

Had a garage sale today.  It is ongoing throughout the weekend.  We did alright for our first day, but honestly did not sell everything I had hoped.

There were some cute things out for sale that I really need to unload because I have too much...

and I have been busy making some chalkboards thinking they might go over well.

Most of the visitors responded that I had very nice displays that made a visual impace when driving by....

and I think we got a lot of attention.

but we do live in the Chicago southland, not the northside.  People want/need kids' clothes and items.  People want deals.  Steals.  And I guess I am not ready to part with some things SO much that it would be a steal.  Yet.

But,

more than one person asked if I had a shop.

Cool.

I wish I did.

Hopin' for more sales tomorrow!
